Find an evidence gap

Level 1: Watch it answered · Exercise 1 of 2

The IMDb table holds a thousand films, one row per film, and meta_score is the critics' Metascore. Which films from 2010 onward have no Metascore on file? Watch the query ask for the gap, then run it.

Data: IMDb Movies.

Why it works, clause by clause

  1. WHERE meta_score IS NULL: keep the films whose score is unknown. = NULL would keep none of them.
  2. AND year >= 2010: the second test, on the year.
  3. SELECT id, title, year, meta_score: meta_score stays in the result on purpose, so you can see the blanks.
  4. ORDER BY id: the same list every run.
